Aerodynamic fineness of the glider and wide application of polymeric composites ensure the achievement of high flying and performance characteristics. The helicopter is designed for carriage of armed assault troops, delivery of weapons and ammunition to the combat area, evacuation of the wounded, performing search and rescue tasks, patrolling, teaching and training of the flying squad.

КА-27

Multipurpose helicopters Ka-27 became the basis for developing a number of modifications and a family of new helicopters, including Ka-27PL, the main ship-based anti-submarine helicopter of the Russian Navy and the ship-based search and rescue helicopter Ka-27PS. The latter is designed for searching and evacuating alighted spacecrafts and their crew with the help of the external sling, for searching and rescuing victims of distress in the sea over a distance of up to 300km and with the ability to take up to 12 victims aboard. Ka-252TL designed for telemetering measurements as a part of ship-based complex of the project 11914 was constructed on the basis of Ka-27PS.

КА-28

Ka-28 helicopter is designed for anti-submarine defense of the Navy with basing on ships of different class, including aircraft carriers. It is capable to detect modern submarines and surface targets, transmit the data about them to ship and coastal posts as well as attack these targets with airborne armament. The export version of Ka-28 is constructed on the basis of Ka-27 helicopter and differs from it by a part of airborne equipment, friend-or-foe identification system and expanded fuel system capacity – 4770 liters.

КА-31

It is designed for long-range detection of air targets of aircraft/helicopter type on very low altitudes as well as of surface vessels, for their tracking and automatic transmission of data to ground and shipborne control stations. Ka-31 ship-based helicopter is designed for anti-airstrike defense of combat vessels’ units which operate outside of coastal radar and AEW airplane coverage. It is a modification of Ka-29 helicopter and is equipped for surveillance and anti-airstrike defense of the combat vessels’ units.
